Leibniz-Institut für Agrartechnik und Bioökonomie e.V. (ATB)

The Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy is a pioneer and a driver of bioeconomy research. We create the scientific foundation to transform agricultural, food, industrial and energy systems into a comprehensive bio-based circular economy. We develop and integrate techniques, processes and management strategies, effectively converging technologies to intelligently crosslink highly diverse bioeconomic production systems and to control them in a knowledge-based, adaptive and largely automated manner. We conduct research in dialogue with society, policymakers, industry and other stakeholders - knowledge-driven and application-inspired.

As part of the EU project "Fostering cross-border knowledge exchange and co-creation on sustainable soil and farm management” (Soil-X-Change, https://soil-x-change.eu/) the following position is to be

Scientist (m/f/d) (100 %)

Tasks

The aim of the joint project is to improve networking between farmers, projects, initiatives and decision-makers from politics and practice. Through this exchange, innovations are to be developed more quickly and implemented in agricultural practice, in particular for sustainable soil and farm management. There is a particular focus on EIP-AGRI Operational Groups (European Innovation Partnership ‘Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability’). Soil-X-Change is intended to help collect, process and disseminate the knowledge and experience of these Operational Groups and their partners across Europe. This also includes harmonising, analysing and integrating results, data and best practices from various projects in order to subsequently disseminate and exchange them in nine EU countries.

A further aim is to establish and maintain a Europe-wide network of stakeholders involved in sustainable soil and farm management. This network is intended to promote the exchange of knowledge and practical methods so that farmers can make well-founded decisions about their farming practices.

The ATB is responsible for organising stakeholder workshops and field days within the project in order to present and discuss innovative methods of sustainable soil and farm management. The ATB is also developing so-called ‘adaptation pathways’ that show how these methods can be transferred to other regions and countries in order to reach as many farmers in Europe as possible.
